The Center for Great Apes
Connecting to the founder's mission
IN2 is proud to have worked with such a dedicated team to film The Founder's Story. We have much respect and admiration for the woman who started it all, founder Patti Ragan. The Center for Great Apes provides a permanent sanctuary for orangutans and chimpanzees who have been rescued or retired from the entertainment industry, from research, or from the exotic pet trade. CGA is the only accredited orangutan sanctuary in North America and one of only a handful of accredited chimpanzee sanctuaries.
Both chimpanzees and orangutans are endangered species. Chimpanzees numbered between 1 and 2 million at the turn of the 20th century. Today there are estimated to be fewer than 120,000 chimpanzees remaining in the wild. The numbers for orangutans are even more sobering, with the current population estimated to be less than 60,000.
100% of donations go to supporting the chimpanzees and orangutans at the sanctuary.
